Your work is changing. Keep your skills moving.
Build on your experience as tools and roles evolve. Explore a new direction, learn through recommended resources and practise with a mentor reviewing your work.

Your path, in brief.
- Usual starting level
- Level 1 (Foundation, 3 months); the team may suggest a quicker route through it if you already have relevant experience
- Tracks that usually fit
- AI Automation, AI and Generative AI, Cloud Computing, DevOps, Data Science
- Time
- Asynchronous by design: you submit work when you have it and get written feedback, so most of the mentorship fits around a job. Session timing is agreed with you before you enrol.
- What you leave with
- A project in the new direction that connects to what you already do, reviewed by someone who works in it, and a plan for the transition.
Built around a job, not instead of one.
Reviews are written and asynchronous: you submit, your mentor reviews, you revise. Live sessions and mock interviews are scheduled with you. Tell the team your constraints on the call and the plan is set around them.
Switching from support, testing or operations.
AI Automation and Cloud Computing are the most common moves from support and operations roles, because the work builds on what you already understand about how a business runs its systems. Testing and development backgrounds usually move toward DevOps or AI applications. Your existing experience is the starting point of the project, not something to set aside.
Level 4 is for you.
Level 4 (Advanced) is aimed at professionals switching direction or going deeper: a larger, multi-part project, 1-on-1 mentor reviews, and system design and architecture review of your own work. Levels are taken in order, so Level 4 follows Levels 1 to 3; the team will say on the call how quickly that is realistic for you.
Employer reimbursement and confidentiality.
A GST invoice is issued for every payment and can be made out in your employer's name on request. Your project uses synthetic or licensed data, never your employer's; nothing from your job needs to be shared.

Which tracks do working professionals usually pick?
These are common starting points, not rules. Your background decides more than your status.
| Track | The work | Coding | Maths |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI and Generative AI | Build applications on top of AI tools and language models, and test what they produce. | Start with tool-based exercises; integrations need programming. | Basic numeracy and careful evaluation to start. |
| Data Science | Build and test statistical and predictive models, then explain what they show. | Python and notebook-based analysis. | Probability, statistics and algebra, developed with practice. |
| Cloud Computing | Run applications on cloud infrastructure with access control and cost awareness. | Command-line skills; scripting becomes useful with practice. | Basic numeracy for capacity, traffic and cost estimates. |
| DevOps | Make building, testing and deploying software repeatable. | Git, Linux and basic scripting; some application familiarity. | Basic numeracy for durations, failure rates and resource use. |
| AI Automation | Connect tools into workflows that use AI and keep a person at the key decisions. | Visual workflows can be a starting point; APIs and custom logic add code. | Percentages, counts and basic performance measurement. |
Four mistakes that slow people down.
- Starting from zero when you already have domain knowledge
- Your experience is an asset. Choose a first project from a task you already do, so the learning attaches to something real.
- Over-planning the switch
- A small reviewed project in your target track tells you more about fit than another month of research.
- Ignoring the story of your current role
- Mock interviews help you connect your past work to the new direction. Prepare how your experience explains the move.
- Expecting the course to do the work
- GullyMentor does not sell courses. You learn from external courses and your mentor reviews what you build, so time for practice matters.
Common questions from working professionals.
Can I do this while working full time?
Yes. It is independent study plus reviewed projects, and the schedule is confirmed with you before you enrol. Level 4 is aimed at working professionals switching direction.
Will my employer pay for it?
Many professionals ask. You can request a GST invoice in your employer's name for reimbursement, but whether an employer reimburses is their decision.
Which track suits someone moving from IT services or testing?
Cloud computing, DevOps, data analytics and cybersecurity are common choices, and the track pages say who each one suits. A Career Audit can help you compare two.
How long does a full switch take?
Level 1 is three months and Levels 2 to 4 are six months each, about 21 months in total. Many learners decide about the next level after finishing one.
Do you guarantee a new job?
No. We do not guarantee eligibility, interviews or employment. You get mentor-reviewed work and interview practice.
